Central Park Elementary develops compassionate, inquisitive and action-minded students in partnership with community and home. We embrace the cultural diversity and global perspectives within society. Students strive to take action in hopes to create a better and more peaceful world.
Central Park Elementary is a state-of-the-art Primary Years Programme/STEM learning facility for grades K-5. As part of the Midland Public Schools District, Central Park provides high-quality, globally-focused elementary education in all academic areas. This includes reading, writing, science, math and social studies. We prepare students to be active participants in a lifelong journey of learning, both in the classroom and in the world. Through engaging and relevant curriculum that extends beyond the classroom walls, students will improve their understanding of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), as well as develop problem-solving and collaboration skills in indoor maker spaces and outdoor learning spaces. The STEM curriculum gives the students natural opportunities to stimulate investigations where they are identifying objects, making comparisons, making predictions, testing ideas, and sharing discoveries, all while observing the environment. Students can also explore sizes, shapes, patterns, and quantities in the process.
The outdoor learning spaces will provide hands-on, project-based learning in science, technology, engineering and math for students throughout the Midland community. Success in learning requires the learner to be at the center of the experience, making transdisciplinary connections across the curriculum. Children need opportunities to learn the same lessons in different settings and through different lenses. The learning spaces can be an extension of what is taught in the classroom, but most importantly an opportunity for students to explore, making learning relevant. The innovative STEM playground allows students to explore their interest and develop unknown talents.
